Thursday, a man drove his truck into Mount Joy Baptist Church on Bonny Oaks Drive.

He also ran over the fence of a playground at the daycare next door, limiting its operation.

State law requires daycares to take kids outside for at least an hour a day if weather permits. Right now, those in charge have to be creative to get the kids active.

The playground is now lined with caution tape.

Valerie Jackson was working at the daycare when it happened. She's glad no one was outside.

“All I thought was, what if we were out on the playground, and the truck came through? I probably would've lost my mind,” Jackson said.

The fire department condemned the church, and it's unclear what's next.

“They can't go to church on Sunday. Due to the fact that there's a big hole, it's liable to collapse,” said Jackson.

The fence of the playground has been ripped out of the ground and lies broken like in the yard.

The playground for "Kidds First" is closed until further notice.

“It's a hazard for the kids because of the fence. Regardless of what it looks like we use the entire playground,” said Jackson.

Jackson typically takes her class outside for 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon.

This accident is forcing her to use her imagination to get the kids moving.

“We come outside to eat popsicles, but we can't do that today,” Jackson said. “I'll just have to incorporate things like dancing until I figure out what we're going to do next.”

The daycare says it will take about a week before they have an estimate to fix the fence.

At this time, it's unclear when the kids will be able to enjoy a day outside.
