Former employee sues city of Dunlap, mayor
A former employee for the city of Dunlap says he was fired as political payback.
A former employee of Dunlap, Tennessee is now suing the city and its mayor, Dwain Land, claiming he was wrongfully terminated.
According to court documents Shawn Cordell worked as a foreman for the sewer department for 25 years.
Cordell claims that during last year's mayoral election he told Mayor Dwain Land that he would be campaigning for candidate Rhonda Summers, who is Cordell’s sister-in-law.
Cordell says just five days after Land won re-election he was fired. Cordell claims this was political payback.
Channel 3 reached out to Mayor Land for comment, and we’re still waiting to hear back.
