An officer was injured in a police chase Saturday night.

Chattanooga police officers were trying to stop a vehicle at a gas pump. The driver, identified as Davon Sherrer, hit the gas when the officer approached, hitting the officer with the front fender.

Officers then pursued the suspect for around 15-20 minutes. The driver struck a telephone pole in the 2900 block of Dodds Avenue.

The driver and passenger, identified as Scyhuler Davis, then fled on foot. Both were caught quickly.

The officer's injuries were non-life-threatening.

The vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers found a firearm and large amounts of narcotics.

Sherrer, 19, faces charges of:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Theft
  • Evading Arrest (x2)
  • Drugs Resale (x2)
  • Possession of a Firearm

Davis, 18, was charged with evading and two counts of drugs for resale.
