UPDATE: A man wanted in connection to an assault of an employee at Island Oasis on Highway 60 is now in custody.

Devin Lee Gartin was arrested and booked into the Hamilton County Jail Thursday.

On July 18, deputies were dispatched to 5518 Highway 60 to respond to an assault that had occurred on the 15th. The assault was captured on surveillance video.

Once on scene, deputies met with the victim, an employee of the convenience store, according to HCSO spokesman Matt Lea.

The victim told police he was working as a cashier when he was assaulted by a man who left the store to ask a woman why she was upset.

Earlier, she had come into the store to ask the man, who had purchased beer, if he had purchased gas, and then slammed the door.

The clerk checked the door and went outside to check on the woman.

That's when the woman's boyfriend told him not to talk to her, and the victim attempted to return to the store.

The suspect then assaulted the victim and left in a white pickup truck, according to the report.

Gartin was identified as a suspect in connection to the incident. He has been charged with assault. His bond is set at $1,500.

"Sheriff Jim Hammond and the men and women of the HCSO would like to offer our appreciation to the community for the large outpouring of information, tips, phone calls, and social media posts that ultimately led to the identity of Gartin and those involved in connection with the Highway 60 incident," a HCSO spokesperson said.

No one else involved in this incident has been charged.
