Ed Manz Variety is a family-owned store in Chattanooga that’s been in business for more than 50 years. The store offers deeply discounted merchandise everyday but parents on a tight budget can save even more during tax-free weekend.
“We're on McCallie Avenue. People pass by and get off the bus. They're able to come in and get back on the bus,” said Valerie Hendley who has worked at the store for 16 years.
The store is offering deals this weekend on basics that kids need to return to the classroom.

“It's very important because it allows them to save, maybe buy an extra one or two pieces that they could not afford if the tax was included so it makes a big difference,” Hendley told Channel 3.
The store sells a variety of items including khakis, polo shirts and socks ranging in price from $2 to $20 for children in preschool to high school.
While the malls and major retailers will be packed this weekend with people buying tax-free items, businesses like Ed Manz say don’t forget to shop local too.
Tax-free weekend lasts through Sunday at midnight. You won’t have to pay tax on clothing up to $100. School supplies and computers are also tax-free.
