Erlanger OnDemand launched to provide virtual care service
Erlanger Health System has launched a new virtual care service.
Erlanger OnDemand is a 24/7/365 service that allows anyone wanting to speak with a board-certified physician the opportunity to do so from their home via a mobile app or video.
“The launch of this innovative product in Chattanooga demonstrates Erlanger’s commitment to providing consumers with care when and where they want it,” Matthew Shafer, Erlanger Health System Administrator Director for Telemedicine, said.
Patients, once they are registered, will have access to both internal medicine and family medicine physicians. To register, visit the Erlanger OnDemand's website or download the app. It is available for both iPhone and Android.
“Physicians can diagnose, treat and prescribe medication for non-emergency conditions such as respiratory infections, seasonal allergies, sore throat, eye infections, rash and more,” Melanie Blake, MD, Erlanger’s Chief of Medicine, added. “With permission, the new service will also provide information about the visit to the patient’s primary care physician.”
It doesn't cost anything to create an account, but each visit will be $49 at the time of the call.
“Erlanger Health System is significantly improving access to care by providing convenient physician visits from virtually anywhere,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, Erlanger Health System President & CEO. “Thanks to Erlanger OnDemand residents throughout the region will be able to speak to a board-certified physician and have medication orders sent to a pharmacy with a few clicks of a mouse.”
Erlanger stresses that this new service is not supposed to replace the patient's primary care provider. For emergencies, call a physician directly or 911.
