Storm knocks trees down, cancels fireworks show in Walker Co.
Storms caused knocked over trees in Walker County on Independence Day.
Walker County Dispatch told Channel 3 that they received around 20 calls about trees down in the area. Some callers also reported wires down in the county.
Dispatch said crews are still working to clear a tree that is blocking part of West Schmitt Road.
Channel 3 viewers submitted pictures of some of the damage in the area.
Weather also put a damper on a fireworks show in North Georgia Wednesday.
The Independence Day celebration at Peavine Baptist Church was canceled "due to sudden inclement weather and a power outage at the church," the church posted on their Facebook page.
Channel 3 has reached out to the church to see if they plan to reschedule the show. A spokesperson for the church said they are not yet sure if they will reschedule.
