A wanted fugitive was captured Friday morning in a joint effort by several law enforcement agencies in Hamilton County.

William “Terry” McDaniel was arrested by the Collegedale Police Department.

McDaniel had been at the center of a weeks-long search by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Division, along with numerous other local, state, and federal agencies.

He had numerous outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants stemming from a variety of incidents spanning jurisdictions including Collegedale, Hamilton, Meigs, Walker, Bradley, and Catoosa Counties.

McDaniel was determined to be a high-risk felony suspect and had reportedly made numerous threats to harm himself and members of the law enforcement community.

At 9:00am Friday, a Collegedale Police Department officer came across a male motorcycle rider breaking the speed limit within the city limits and tried to make a traffic stop. The driver of the motorcycle (later to be determined to be Terry McDaniel) fled and led the officer on a pursuit. As the pursuit began, police learned that Hamilton County deputies were nearby, following up on a lead of McDaniel’s whereabouts.

During the pursuit, McDaniel's motorcycle had mechanical problems and he pulled over and took off on foot. He was pursued by police and deputies and captured by a HCSO K-9.
