Three people from Detroit, Michigan were arrested in McMinn County during a drug bust on Friday.

Sheriff Joe Guy says 29-year-old Juan Allen, 46-year-old Brenda Criaqumule, and 29-year-old Elijah Mills were arrested at the Athens Walmart during a drug operation on June 22.

Sheriff Guy says the trio had about 20 grams of heroin that was seized by officers.

“That amount of heroin was worth about $3000, and would have resulted in 200 doses sold on the street,” Sheriff Guy says. “This could have resulted in overdoses, addiction, deaths, and other associated crimes."

"It was a great example of communication and different agencies successfully working together, and putting a dent in the Detroit heroin dealers that are plaguing our region,” adds Sheriff Guy.

All three suspects were taken to the McMinn County Jail, and will face court appearances in the coming weeks.
