A small fire at The Howard School forced students and staff to evacuated the building Thursday.

Hamilton County schools spokesman Tim Hensley says the fire was in a garbage can and was quickly extinguished.

The fire didn't cause any damage; however, students in the ninth grade academy had to relocate until the smoke cleared.

No one was injured and Hensley says parents have been notified of the incident.

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the scene.
