Head Coach Mark Mariakis is getting ready for his second year with Chattanooga Christian School, and once again it looks like growing pains will be the story for the Chargers this year.

CCS returns starters on the offensive and defensive line, But everywhere else will be relatively young. This season CCS along with other private schools made the jump to Division II, forcing the Chargers' underclassmen to grow up fast.

"We got so many young kids out there" says coach Mariakis. "We are looking at our theme for the year as 'grow up in a hurry' because they're going to have to play. Nobody really cares how young they are and experienced they are. The other team is just going to play football. So we're going threw those growing pains of 'I know your 14, but you still got to play high school football.'"

Quarterback is also one of the positions that is currently up for grabs. Right now coach Mariakis is trying out three players, senior Dylan Clark, who has never played quarterback before, freshmen Sam Hall, and sophomore Jeff Weisel.

CCS opens the season at McCallie August 18th.
