HCSO Corporal arrested for misconduct, suspended with pay
Thursday, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Corporal Gene Planer was arrested and charged with one count of Official Misconduct.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division recently concluded an investigation into an allegation of misconduct by an employee with the Sheriff’s Office.
HCSO spokesman Matt Lea says the details of the inquiry were taken to the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office by HCSO investigators for review.
District Attorney General Neal Pinkston looked at the case and recommended the facts of the it be presented to the Hamilton County Grand Jury. After hearing testimony on the case, the Grand Jury returned an indictment against Corrections Corporal Gene Planer.
Thursday, Corporal Planer was arrested and charged with one count of Official Misconduct.
The Sheriff has placed Corporal Planer on suspension with pay up to two weeks per HCSO policy.
The Sheriff's Office has not released any details of the "misconduct" Corporal Planer is accused of.
Channel 3 has filed an opened records request to learn more about the investigation of Corporal Planer's alleged incident.
