UPDATE: Shots were fired at three Walker County Sheriff's Office deputies early Friday morning, as they attempted to question a suspect.

Officials say the deputies were responding to a call of a suspicious person in the area of Mission Ridge and Johnson Rd. in Rossville, GA.

The initial responding deputy attempted to question the suspect at an intersection, but the suspect fled, and fired one shot in the deputy's direction.

Backup was called in by the first deputy, and a search in the area began for the suspect. The suspect fired a second shot towards the deputies during their search effort.

Officials say the deputies returned fire, shooting four times. The suspect was struck in the buttocks, and detained.

The suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile, was arrested and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deputies were not injured in the incident.
