Cool and dry for a few days. More rain next week.

Posted: Updated:

Good Thursday.  Along with the severe storms yesterday we also had record rainfall.  At the Chattanooga airport we received 4.01", breaking the old record of 2.64" set in 2010.  We are actually leaving November with above average rainfall for the month.  The November average is 5.0".  Our monthly total (just about all of it falling this week) is 5.48".  We are still more than 17" below average for the year, however.

As many of you are getting out and cleaning up, today will be cool and dry with lots of sunshine and highs in the mid 50s.  Winds will be light from the west.  Tonight cold air will filter in.  Lows will drop into the low 30s with clear skies as we head into Friday morning.  Friday will be another cool dry day with the high reaching 57.

This weekend will stay chilly with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.  We will see some clouds moving in Saturday afternoon, and we may get a few showers late Sunday.

Our rain chances increase next week.  It looks like we have a good chance for significant rainfall Monday afternoon through Tuesday.  2"+ are possible during that time frame.
