CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world through Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse. Volunteers fill shoeboxes with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies for children ages 2 to 14. The boxes are sent to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease. A former recipient was on "3 Plus You" Wednesday and talked of his experience in receiving a box.
Alex Nsengimana, a former recipient said, "250 of us got to receive a gift for the first time in our lives..and to hear the screams not from someone chasing us but from joy and happiness. God used something simple to impact my life and to bring me joy and help in my healing process"
Samaritan's Purse is accepting filled shoeboxes until Monday, November 21st.
