UPDATE: Gas leak repaired in Jasper, residents cleared to return home

JASPER, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: A gas leak that forced evacuations in Marion County Monday night has been repaired.

Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnett says the leak in Jasper has been fixed.

The Sheriff says all residents that evacuated their homes can return.

PREVIOUS STORY: A gas leak in Marion County is causing some evacuations in the city of Jasper Monday night.

Sheriff Bo Burnett says the leak was found around 5:30 p.m. (CST) off Main Street and Highway 64 toward Kimball.

The Sheriff says businesses and some homes in the area have been evacuated as a precaution.

Sheriff Burnett says workers are trying to repair the leak. Some roads have been blocked off as a result.

    Early Wednesday morning, a fire damaged a home in Hamilton County.
