ATLANTA (AP) - A man accused of shooting a federal agent in Athens is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.
Steven Maurice McKinley is accused of shooting and injuring a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent in September 2014. He pleaded guilty in August to two charges, including attempt to kill a federal officer.
Court filings say the agent was involved in undercover efforts to buy drugs and guns.
The filings say McKinley and two others decided to set up the deal and then rob the agent rather than turning over the gun and drugs. In the chaos that followed one of the suspects was killed and the agent seriously injured.
