CARTA offers free rides for voters on Election Day
If you need a ride to vote Tuesday, you're in luck.
CARTA announced that it will offer free bus rides all Election Day on its’ fixed route and Care-a-van services.
Veronica Peebles, CARTA’s Manager of Communications, said that on Election Day next Tuesday, CARTA would like to encourage registered voters to go to the polls and vote. “CARTA is delighted to extend this offer, especially to those who do not have transportation to the voting locations. We do not want the lack of transportation to be a reason that citizens in our community were not able to exercise their right to vote”, said Peebles.
CARTA is the public transit system in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Hamilton County that operates with 17 bus routes, a free all-electric vehicle Downtown and North Shore Shuttle system, and a door-to-door paratransit service for people with disabilities, CARTA Care-a-van.
CARTA also owns and operates the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, and manages parking operations through the Chattanooga Parking Authority.
