UPDATE: Volkswagen unveiled their new midsize SUV, named "Atlas" Tuesday at VW's Chattanooga facility.

The new vehicle was shown to employees and the media during quarterly VW's All-Team meeting Tuesday.

Volkswagen has invested some $600 million dollars and will add 2,000 new jobs at their Chattanooga facility to produce the new Atlas SUV.

This should eventually bring the total number of VW workers to 3,400.

PREVIOUS STORY: Volkswagen unveiled its new midsize SUV Thursday night which will be made right here in Chattanooga.

Hinrich J. Woebcken, Volkswagen CEO of the North America Region, unveiled the automaker's latest edition to its fleet on the Santa Monica Pier at the western end of the historic Route 66, naming it "Atlas."

The 7-passenger vehicle will be made at Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant, where the Passat has been in production since 2011.

While no specific date has been confirmed, production is expected to begin at the end of 2016.

Good Wednesday.  Today is special because it marks the first day we see our average temperature start to recede.  The average high for yesterday's date was 90.  The average high for today's date is 89. As we progress through today we will notice our humidity levels dropping and skies clearing.  Temperatures will also be about 5 degrees lower than yesterday (93 was the high in Chattanooga Tuesday).  The bottom line: awesome weather is settling in.
