UPDATE: Woman comes home to house fire in Hixson
Chattanooga firefighters are trying to figure out what caught a home on fire in Hixson.
UPDATE: An early morning fire at a Hixson home appears to have started in the bedroom and spread to the attic.
The home's occupant, a woman, as well as her dog, were able to escape the fire safely. The woman left the home about 3:00am to go to a convenience store and returned to find her house on fire.
The smoke and water damage to the home leaves it unable to be occupied.
They will be staying elsewhere until repairs can be made to the home.
A fire investigator said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but what exactly sparked the blaze remains undetermined.
