UPDATE: Fire crews extinguish I-24 brush fire in north GA

DADE COUNTY, GA -

A brush fire in Dade County, Georgia slowed traffic on Interstate 24 Thursday afternoon.

It happened near mile marker 168, east of the the I-24/I-59 junction, slowing traffic in both directions.

Firefighters from several agencies fought the blaze.

Smoke and rubberneckers had traffic backed up for several miles in both directions.

Motorists were advised to use caution until the fires were extinguished and the smoke subsides. 

The fires are now out and traffic is moving through the area.
