Good Wednesday. We had a record high of 90 degrees in Chattanooga yesterday, breaking the previous record of 89 set in 1926. We could see the 1910 record of 89 for today fall as well. I am forecasting a high of 89, and we could easily surpass that by a degree or two. Along with the heat it is also a bit humid for October. Dew points are in the 60s. Skies will be partly cloudy.
Thursday will be transition day. We will start warm with a low of 65. Skies will be mostly cloudy ahead of a cold front. We will be a bit cooler with a high of 81. During the late afternoon and into Thursday evening we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms moving through. Gusty winds and lightning will be a threat with storms moving through.
Behind the front we will see much cooler and drier air settling in. Friday we will start with a morning low of 55. The rain will have pushed off to the east. Friday afternoon will see clearing skies with north breezes at 10-15 mph. That will bring in the cool air keeping highs in the upper 60s Friday afternoon. The weekend will be awesome and fall-like. Skies will be sunny both days with lows in the 40s. The high Saturday will only get up to 68. Sunday we will rebound to 75.
Next week will sport cool mornings and great afternoons with the sunshine lasting at least through Wednesday. For the latest, download the WRCB weather app. David Karnes
