Numerous teams from around the Tennessee Valley and North Georgia areas are preparing for runs in the TSSAA and GHSA state playoffs. State tournaments in both states got underway last week, and ten local high schools still have a shot at a state championship.
From the state of Tennessee, there are five local teams still playing in the TSSAA state volleyball playoffs. Those teams include: Baylor, Cleveland, Red Bank, Sale Creek, and Signal Mountain. Cleveland, Red Bank, Sale Creek, and Signal Mountain (all in TSSAA Division I) have already advanced past Regionals and Sectionals, now into the State Qualifiers. Baylor (in TSSAA Division II-AA) received a bye in the first round of their bracket, and defeated St. Benedict in three straight sets to advance to the State Semifinals. All five teams will continue their quest for a state championship Wednesday, October 19th.
