After a hot but super-productive band camp the Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe Marching Band had their show on the field at the first football game. They are 125 members strong, and with just 19 of those being seniors, Director Rich Stichler tells me the numbers are up and it's a good time to be in band.
It's a great group which he says is excited about the music they're playing. So much so, you can hear the excitement in their tone. The show is built to show them off. It's called "Cut to the Chase," and features the music of Bill Chase, complete with screaming trumpets.
They marched the Midsouth Marching Festival in Gadsden, Alabama and tomorrow head off to perform in Rockmart, Georgia. Look for a fundraiser of some sort as we roll through the fall. Contact the LFO Bandroom for more information.
And, one more bit of exciting news, Trombone player Miguel Gonzalez was selected to be a member of the US Army All-Star Marching Band. Congratulations to him on an outstanding accomplishment!
