Chattanooga street festival celebrates "Best Town (for)Ever"

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
Some streets were closed downtown Friday night for a live entertainment celebration calling Chattanooga "Best Town Forever."
The street festival shut down the 700 block of Cherry Street and was hosted by River Rocks Chattanooga. Friday's event was the culmination of all their recent outdoor and sporting events.
The block party featured a climbing wall and geodome, local bands, local food, beer and whiskey, along with special performances by a slackliner walking a rope above city streets.
All of this was to celebrate what makes the Scenic City great, especially its great outdoors.
"We're calling it Best Town Forever because Chattanooga is the only city ever to have won the designation of "Best Town Ever" by Toad & Co. Magazine and Outdoor Magazine the past two years," said Carla Pritchard, owner of Chattanooga Presents. "Tonight showcases a lot of what makes Chattanooga so great."
Event organizers tell us Chattanooga is a top outdoor destination and one of the main reasons people move here. It also helps attract young professionals to local start-up companies.
River Rocks will host additional outdoor events this weekend and later this month. The schedule is posted here.
