UPDATE: Man charged with attempted first degree murder from October shooting

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga police have charged a Chattanooga man with attempted first-degree murder in an October 2015 shooting.

Prandell Antonio Haynes faces additional charges related to the shooting of Thomas Williams Jr. shot in the face. Those charges are:

  • Attempted First Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Unl. Carrying Or Possessing Weapon
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Aggravated Assault

Police say that Haynes and another man, Marquel Morris, were confronted by a woman who accused Haynes of stealing her gun.

The arrest report also says that both Haynes and Morris fired "at least 20 shots" at the woman and her daughter during a confrontation behind Sandy's Market on Glass Street.

That's when Williams was struck in the face by one of the shots.

The woman was later able to identify both Haynes and Morris from two separate police lineups.

Police say that Morris, a convicted felon, if not allowed to legally posses a weapon


PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Police say one person was shot in the face Thursday near Wheeler and Latta, the area behind Sandy's Market on Glass Street.

That person was taken to the nearby fire hall and from there to the hospital. 

The wound is considered non-life threatening. 

Police are working to locate an exact crime scene.
