October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Chattanooga Police Department is showing support for the cause.

You may see officers wearing black and pink hats during the month of October.

The money the officers donated for the hats goes to "Pink Heals" Chattanooga area chapter.

And it's a fundraisers all first responders in the area are participating in.

It's a local organization that began in 2007 to honor women with the disease that keeps fundraising money local.

Research shows breast cancer affects one in eight women during their lives; it kills more women in the United States than any cancer except for lung cancer.

And again all the money first responders raise will be kept in the Chattanooga area.
