Former Sequatchie County Middle School bookkeeper indicted for theft

Posted: Updated:
SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

A former bookkeeper for Sequatchie County Middle School is arrested for theft.

Investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller's Office determined Rebecca Daughtrey took at least $18,322 from the school between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2012. It is possible that more money was stolen, however investigators believe Daughtrey discarded or destroyed records.

Comptroller investigators say Daughtrey stole school fundraiser collections and failed to deposit ticket money from at least six athletic events.

Rebecca Daughtrey was arrested by the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office and charged with theft over $10,000.
