RECALL: Toyota recalling new Prius due to parking brake defect

Posted: Updated:

Toyota Motor is recalling 340,000 new Prius cars worldwide because of a possible parking brake defect.

The recall covers cars made from the end of October 2015 until October 3rd this year.

Toyota said there was a design problem in the connecting cable between the parking and rear wheel brakes.

In the worst case, the parking brake would not function if vibrations disconnect the cable.

Toyota will install an additional part that secures the connecting cable so that it won't disengage.
