Halls man charged with selling heroin that caused overdose

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a West Tennessee man has been charged with selling heroin that resulted in the overdose death of at least one person.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Memphis said Thursday that 49-year-old Marvin Foster, of Halls, distributed more than 3.5 ounces of heroin throughout Lauderdale, Tipton, and Dyer counties between January 2013 and January 2015.

Prosecutors say heroin distributed by Foster is responsible for the death of at least one person.

Foster was indicted on Sept. 29 on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute heroin, which resulted in the death of a person.

If convicted, Foster faces a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison. Federal court records do not show if he has a lawyer. He has a court appearance scheduled on Oct. 24.
