PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga police say some sort of dispute erupted outside of a 7th Avenue home Wednesday leaving a young mom dead and investigators looking for answers.

"That girl didn't deserve this. All she wanted was to be happy. All she wanted was her daughter and family. She didn't deserve this," Pooh Harris said through tears.

Harris remembered her friend and co-worker LaRhonda Spence, 25.

Someone shot Spence on Wednesday night on 7th Avenue.

"We're looking for several persons of interest that are gang members but the shooting itself does not appear to be gang-motivated," CPD Homicide Detective Lt. Glenn Scruggs said.

Detectives think someone targeted the young mom but those who knew her best say they have no idea why.

"It seems like it's all the good people that's leaving and they're leaving all the good kids behind for somebody else to raise," Harris added.

A familiar plea around East Lake.

Another shooting in this community is one reason the DA is asking a judge to allow different rules just for this part of town.

Scruggs agreed that the area needs a better effort.

"I think that area could definitely use some extra attention and that any attention that the DA's office or the police department can extend to it would definitely be beneficial," he said.

Investigators say witnesses are working with police and they have several persons of interest but no arrests right now.

If you have any information that could help police in their investigation, call them at 423-698-2525.
