UPDATE: Whitfield Co. Sheriff Office dedicates tree in honor of 'Tater'

DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

On Tuesday the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office dedicated a tree in honor of Tater.

Gabriel "Tater" Singleton, 7, died in July after a battle with cancer. Tater was granted one of his biggest wishes when he met former wrestler and movie star "The Rock" earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Tater's mom told Channel 3 about Tater's obsession with police officers. Soon after he was made an honorary officer by the Dalton Police Department.

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office held the tree dedication on Professional Boulevard, where it plans to do the same in the future for fallen officers.
