The Rucknooga Ruck March will be held in honor of the Fallen Five on October 8, 2016.
The march is a memorial walk to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attack in Chattanooga on July 16, 2015.
The event will begin at 6219 Lee Hwy in front of the 7/16 Memorial at 8:00 a.m., and end around 2:00 p.m.
Participants will walk a distance of approximately 16 miles. A shorter distance of seven miles will also be available.
A break will be provided at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at the halfway point, which is seven miles from the starting point.
The complete route ends at the Riverpark near the Naval Operational Support Center. From there, shuttles will be provided to drive participants back to their vehicles. Shuttles will also be available from the halfway point.
Lunch will be provided at the end of the event.
Participants are asked to bring a warm piece of clothing to donate to Heroes Hand Up, an organization that assists homeless veterans.
All proceeds from the event will benefit both Heroes Hand Up and the 766 Fund.
Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the walk. All skill levels are welcome, however the event will be challenging.
Registration for the event ends on October 8, 2016 at 10:59 a.m.
Donations and volunteers are welcome and encouraged.
