Great weekend weather. The drought is worsening.

Posted: Updated:

Good Friday!  The good news... we are in for a dry, BEAUTIFUL weekend! The bad news... we are in for a DRY, beautiful weekend.  While the weather will be near flawless this weekend, our drought status has entered new levels.  Part of the area in and around Chattanooga is now in "Exceptional" drought status.  "Exceptional" is the highest range on the drought index.  In Chattanooga we are more than 14" below our average rainfall for the year, and there is absolutely no rain in the forecast.   All indications are that our entire fall season will have below average rainfall.

With that said, it will feel amazing outdoors this weekend.  Today we will match yesterday with a high of 74.  We will have great weather for the ball games tonight with temps dropping through the 60s this evening.  Overnight will be chilly with temps in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Saturday will be a bit warmer but still great with a high of 79.  Sunday will manage a high of 81.  Skies will be partly cloudy both days.

Next week we will see pretty clear skies with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows near 60 each day.
