DUNLAP, TN (WRCB) -

A Dunlap Volunteer firefighter was arrested this week for sending inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old girl from Missouri.

Dunlap Police Chief Clint Huth tells Channel 3, his department presented its case against 46-year-old Phillip Ray McGhee to the Grand Jury on Monday, which returned an indictment for sexual exploitation of a minor.

Chief Huth says this all began at the beginning of September when his department received a call from Vernon County, Missouri detectives about a complaint filed by the mother of a 14-year-old girl, accusing McGhee of sending inappropriate text messages to her daughter.

Chief Huth says his department took the lead on the investigation, after further discussion with Missouri officials.

McGhee was arrested on Monday and has since bonded out of jail.

A Dunlap VFD official says McGhee has been suspended from all activities with the fire department.

He's due in circuit court Friday at 9:00AM.
