A Tennessee tradition of some 40 years is coming to an end, of sorts.
Ahead of the Vols game at Georgia, there will be no Pride of the Southland Band concert in Chattanooga's Miller Park this Friday.
The band has stopped and played, yearly, on the way to games in Tuscaloosa and Athens to the delight of the Big Orange faithful.
But, for the second time, the Bulldogs are not allowing the Tennessee band to march at halftime between the hedges at UGA.
UT Band leaders say it does not make fiscal sense to take the whole group to Athens to play from the stands. Two years ago, after the Miller Park concert, a third of the band went on to Georgia while the rest returned to Knoxville.
The Pride tells us band members look forward to returning to Chattanooga on their way to Alabama, next year.
