WATCH LIVE: Active-shooter situation reported in southwest Houston

Police confirmed that they responded to an active-shooter situation near a shopping center Monday morning in southwest Houston.

Dozens of police vehicles could be seen just before 7 a.m. at a strip mall near the intersection of Weslayan and Bissonnet streets.

Houston police said that there are several victims at the scene, and that scene has been contained.

A KPRC2 crew reported hearing several gunshots at the scene when they arrived.

A witness, who called 911, told KPRC2 that she heard as many as 30 shots fired.
