Record heat possible today. A big cool down this week.

Posted: Updated:

Good Sunday.  Good luck to the Iron Man athletes today!  It will be a hot one.  Temps will climb to a record tying 94 degrees this afternoon.  The average high is 80 degrees.  Most of the day will feature mostly sunny skies.  However, we will have some clouds building late today with one or two light showers possible east of Chattanooga in the Blue Ridge Mtns.

A cold front will be moving in Monday.  It will bring some afternoon rain showers late in the day.  Before the rain moves in, we will manage a high of 87.  The rain won't amount to much in terms of drought relief.  We are about 14" below our average rain for the year.  Monday we will only see about .25" .

Tuesday through the rest of the week will be amazing.  Highs will be in the low 80s, and each day will start in fine fashion with lows in the 50s.
