This week, we offer you a peek at, perhaps, one of the most viewed and enjoyed band program in the Tennessee Valley. We say that only because the Ooltewah High School Band Is known for big time performances in front of large crowds. We accompanied them on one of their trips to march to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They have also marched the Christmas parade at Disney, Thanksgiving in Chicago, and the group is set to head west in the new year. This year's band will be joined by alumni from nearly every era of the program to be one of 18 bands invited to perform in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. As you can imagine, it takes full coffers to finance such a great adventure. Director Joel Denton tells us they have plenty of fund raisers and activities ahead. If you would like to get involved, they would love to hear from you. Keep up with the group on their webpage: www.ooltewahband.org
Oh a personal note, it is fitting we feature Ooltewah this week. On this very week, last year, we featured the Pride of East Ridge. Very sadly, the Tennessee Valley band family lost East Ridge Director Perry Vandergriff this past Saturday. Vandergriff and Denton were close friends and both former members of the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Band.
Now, sit back and listen to the Ooltewah Band, this week's Friday Night Football Band of the Week!
