Aggressive dog shot and killed by Cleveland Police Officer

Posted: Updated:

An aggressive dog was shot and killed by a Cleveland Police officer early Friday morning.

Officials say initial reports of the dog bite came in around 12:30 a.m. at a home on Gaut Street.

A caller notified dispatch that a dog had bitten two people at the home.

Upon arrival, officers observed two dogs running around the area. One dog approached one of the officers in an aggressive manner, and forced him to retreat back to his vehicle.

A little while later, officials say officers noticed two males running out of the home on Gaut Street, screaming for help.

One of the males was being chased by a pit bull, and climbed onto a car to avoid the dog.

Officials say the man then fell off of the car, and was bitten by the dog.

Officers approached the male and dog, and fired one shot at the dog. The dog released the victim after the first shot.

Officials say officers then fired a second shot, which killed the dog.

The male victim received treatment from local EMS .
