A warm start to fall

Posted: Updated:

Good Thursday.  Fall officially begins this morning at 10:21 AM.  It is going to be a warm, dry first few days of the season.  Today we will see partly cloudy skies in the afternoon with a high of 91.

Friday will be similar with a high of 90.  I don't see much change through the weekend.  Temps will be about 10 degrees above average in the low 90s both days.  We will have clouds on and off this weekend, but the rain will hold off for the weekend events like the Hamilton County Fair and the Iron Man.

Next week we will have a cold front approaching from the west.  It will stall just west of our area on Monday.  Ahead of the front, we will have mostly cloudy skies with a few isolated showers possible.  The high Monday will manage to get into the upper 80s.

Tuesday will be noticeably cooler with cloudy skies, a few showers, and a high of 83.  The front will move over the Tennessee Valley Wednesday and Thursday, bringing our chances for scattered showers up a bit, and helping to keep afternoon highs a bit lower in the low 80s.  That is certainly cooler, but still a few degrees above the average high of 79.

Good Thursday.  We have another bitterly cold start today with temps in the low to mid 10s this morning.  Fortunately, our winds are fairly calm this morning so wind chill won't be as much of an issue heading out.

The roads will be very slick including interstates and main city roads Tuesday night because of these cold temperatures. So travel should be discouraged.
