Good Friday! Will the heat EVER give us a break? We will at least drop a few degrees over the weekend. Thursday we actually tied a record as we soared to 97. The record was set previously in 1991. Today we would have to get to 96 to to hit the record. I am forecasting a SLIGHTLY cooler high of 93. While I can't rule out a stray shower or two in some outlying areas today, the rain chance is only 20%.
Saturday the high will reach 90 under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are heading in the right direction, but keep in mind the average high for this time of year is 83. We will stay way above that for a while.
Sunday a front will push through bringing scattered showers and storms to the area. That could bring us up to a half inch of rain. That will be nice to water the lawn, but will not do much to relieve the extreme drought conditions around the Tennessee Valley.
Behind the front, we will not get the benefit of cooler air, but we will see the humidity dropping quite a bit. Highs all week will be in the low 90s, but with the drier air it should feel fairly comfortable.
