The Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachian honored one of their own Thursday.

Jean Dolan has been a girl scout for 90 years. She says she was living near Boston when she saw the girl scouts doing things outdoors. Since Jean also liked to be outdoors, she signed up when she turned 10 years old.

Dolan says it was fun sharing life experiences with a group of girls going through the same things. She believes the girl scouts helped her to become a better person.

"I think it's a key to independent womanhood," Dolan says. "You learned how to take care of yourself."

Jean has also served as scout leader.

Channel 3 asked Jean an important question after 90 years with the girl scouts: what is her favorite cookie?

Jean responds, "Oh no, how could you have a favorite with all those choices?"
