CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Chattanooga police and FBI agents are looking for a man accused of robbing the HealthCare Services Credit Union Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30pm in 900 block of E. 3rd Street.

A release from the FBI says the suspect walked into the credit union and demanded money, saying he was going to blow up the bank as he placed an item on the teller counter.

The suspect ran from the scene with undisclosed amount of money.

The Bomb Squad found the item left by the suspect and determined it was a hoax.

The suspect is described as a black male with a goatee in his late 20s to early 30s. He was wearing a red shirt with a yellow symbol on the front and a boonie style hat. He was carrying a blue backpack.

The incident had streets near Erlanger cordoned off as police worked to determine the nature of the robbery. The 900 block of E. 3rd Street was closed to traffic.

The FBI is handling the investigation.

A spokesperson for Erlanger says the incident did not affect the hospital in any way.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525 or the Knoxville FBI Office at 865-544-0751.
