NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Jimmy Stanton, the Tennessee Titans vice president of communications, has resigned effective immediately.

The Titans announced the resignation Tuesday, two days after losing the season opener 25-16 to Minnesota. The franchise plans to look for a replacement after the season.

Stanton was hired in May 2015 to oversee digital media, media relations, community relations, broadcasting and production after working six years as senior associate athletics director for communications at the University of Tennessee. He also has worked at the University of Kentucky, the Houston Astros and worked in media relations for the Titans in 1999 and 2000.

President Steve Underwood said in a statement the Titans are grateful for Stanton's contributions since his return and will miss him.
