Chattanooga Bass Yakkers Crown Champions

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Chattanooga Bass Yakkers held their 9th and final tournament of the 2016 regular season on Saturday and Sunday, September 3rd and 4th.

The 2-day Classic event started in Mud Creek on Chickamauga Lake and ended near Harrison Bay on Sunday. Anglers fished a total of 10 hours hoping to turn in the largest 5 bass.

In the end it was Brandon Calvery who came away with the win with a 5-bass limit of 67.25”.

Second place was Justin Rongey with 66.25” and 3rd place went to Danny Bales with 66.00”.

The big bass of the tournament was a 17.00” largemouth caught by Josh Revis.

The kayak bass fishing club also crowned their end of year award winners and announced who would represent the club at the 2016 TN Kayak Bass Fishing State Championship held September 16th and 17th on Pickwick Lake.

The 2016 Big Bass of the Year went to Morgan Gibson who caught a 24.00” largemouth out of Chester Frost Park. The 2016 Angler of the Year was Erik Greywitt.

This year’s state qualifiers are Erik Greywitt, Garrett Campbell, Jody Campbell, Justin Rongey, Gene Morton, Brandon Elrod, and Matt Cunningham.

The regular season may be over, but this group will be hosting crappie tournaments and other events over the next few months.
