Railfest will be held this weekend to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum from September 9 through 11.
The weekend will start Friday, September 9, with an independent movie, "And Then There Was One," documenting the tale of the Steam Queen. Tickets are available for purchase.
Missionary Ridge Local trains will be running on expanded schedules with two steam locomotives rotating duty. There will also be Chickamauga Turn and Dinner on the Diner trains on Saturday, September 10.
Throughout the weekend, there will be activities and demonstrations, and also live musical entertainment by The Lawmen Band, Red Hot Longhandles and Slim Pickens.
Several locomotives will be on display. Two recently restored diesel locomotives will be formally dedicated. Both of those engines have a Chattanooga connection, as they served the area on a regular basis during their original service.
Railfest tickets are only $25 for adults and $20 for kids aged 2 through 12.
