TDOT road work this week
TDOT crews will conduct their quarterly testing on the Market Street Bridge Sunday, September 11, 2016 between 8:00am-2:00pm.
HAMILTON COUNTY, SR-8 Market Street Bridge quarterly inspection: The TDOT Bridge Inspection crew will conduct quarterly testing on the Market Street Bridge in downtown Chattanooga on Sunday, September 11, 2016 during which time the bridge will be closed to through traffic between 8AM to no later than 2PM. This work is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances delay the inspection, it will be rescheduled to take place at a later date. Drivers are advised to use the Olgiati Bridge or the Veterans Bridge as alternate routes while the Market Street Bridge is closed. Regional Operations crews will provide traffic control.
HAMILTON COUNTY, U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: To expedite the latest phase of the U.S. 27 reconstruction project, TDOT contract crews must close the on-ramp from eastbound MLK Boulevard to U.S. 27 North for approximately three months. The ramp closure will be in effect beginning Saturday, September 10, 2016 and last until the work is completed in December 2016. By totally closing the ramp, this phase of work can be completed in three months instead of twelve months and lessen the overall impact to motorists. To aid in moving traffic while the ramp is closed, the contractor will construct a temporary left turn lane on eastbound MLK Boulevard to allow traffic to access the alternate on-ramp to U.S. 27 North.
MARION COUNTY, I-24 East and West between mile markers 160 and 161: Beginning on Monday, September 12, 2016 through Thursday, September 15, 2016 the Region 2 Bridge Inspection team will conduct a regular inspection of the Tennessee River Bridges on I-24 between mile markers 160 and 161 in Marion County. They will be working on I-24 East on Monday and Tuesday, and on I-24 West on Wednesday and Thursday. This work will take place during non-peak daytime hours. During the inspections, the team will require the outside shoulder and the outside (right) lane to be closed. This work is weather dependent. Should this work be postponed by weather, it will be rescheduled to take place on the next available day. TDOT Operations will assist with traffic control. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
