About 700 volunteers across the Tennessee Valley rolled up their sleeves and worked on dozens of projects.

It was all for United Way's 27th annual "Day of Caring."

From landscaping at Orange Grove Center's fragrance garden, to painting school classrooms, volunteers worked on more than 30 different projects throughout the day.

By day's end, about $106,000 was in donated labor.
