UPDATE: Bradley County EMS worker stabbed on call by Lee student

UPDATE:  Lee University confirmed to Channel 3 that the suspect in Thursday's stabbing of a Bradley County EMS worker was a student at the school.

The student, who has not yet been identified, is said to be under review by the school's disciplinary committee as they gather facts from the incident

The school says the student has been suspended from the team he was a member of, but did not give additional information.

PREVIOUS STORY: A Bradley County first responder was stabbed early Thursday morning while at a call.

About 2:00am dispatchers sent and EMS crew on a medical evaluation of a person on Lee University property. 

Crews talked with the person about his medical state when he stood up stabbed one of the EMS crew in the neck with his keys, barely missing his carotid artery. 

The EMS worker was transported and received 14 stitches in his neck, as well as infection control measures, according to a news release. 

The assailant was arrested has been charged

The Bradley County Emergency Medical Services crew member was released and went on to finished his shift.
